I'm baaaaaaack!

But not in a creepy way.

I always feel like during Christmas vacation I get really lazy and fat and I just sort of fall off the grid for a little bit.  So even though I am very sad to be leaving my life of family, gluttony, and old friends, I am really glad to be back at school, back at the grind, and back with my new friends.  This place is starting to feel like home to me.

Today, was my sister's birthday and I had an awkward break between classes so I sat down and a bunch of strangers got to hear me sing Happy Birthday to my sister.  There is a point to this story, I promise.

The point of this story is to say that I am so glad that I got a digital camera for Christmas.  Because once my family was lame and having too much fun to talk to me, I took a picture of the pretty Stanford surroundings.  Here's that pic:

And even though I am stressed about my hard classes, I am grateful to be going to a beautiful school.

I know that this post sounds like I hate my family, but I don't.  I actually love them.  Happy Birthday Camille! I hope you were serious about that can-opener.

In one last thing, this is me upon hearing the news that Andrew Luck is coming back to Stanford next year.

And when there's an emergency dance party, it means I'm officially back at the farm.

ThanksGiving Me a Break!

Hey everyone!  Look at me! I haven't blogged in forever and I'm finally doing it now!

Ok I'll cut to the chase.  Things that have made me happy lately include:

  • Christmas music!  Lots and lots of it.  I sang a long to it as I made th 6 hour (which I sort of cut down to 5.5 hours) drive from home to Stanny-anny-anford.
  • Tricking people into believing I have REALLY short hair with this deceptive pic:

I did get it cut, but never in my life would I go that short.  (I might be jinxing myself here.)

  • These suckers:

Which are about to be all over my dorm room.  It's my idea of Christmas decorations.  Just wait till I go home and take pictures of the decorations that my Mom puts up.  Oh and i'm being green (using pre-used paper.)

  • Right now my school's football team is nationally ranked higher than our academic program ... And we're Stanford!  Which means we can back up things like this:

Let's get a better look at that fountain:

Yes, it's dyed red (ish pink) for Big Game week.

And many many more.  Count this as a

I'm Famous!

Guys, did you know that I am famous because I'm a professional blogger?  OK, seeing as I have 3 followers (WOOT!), this could not possibly be true.  But, my school has an unofficial blog, and I joined the staff and had my first blog post on Saturday.  Check it out: http://tusb.stanford.edu/author/gigismile/.  I'm super excited about it.  I wish blogging experience were a marketable skill.  I think with enough spin on it, it definitely could be.  I made the goal of posting on here at least 3 times a week and posting on The Unofficial Stanford Blog at least once a week.

Did you watch the USC-Stanford game on Saturday?  WE WON!!!!  And afterwards I rushed the field with all of my friends.  I know you're only supposed to rush the field when you're not expecting to win and it is extra special, but we had fun.  It was something like this:

Here's a picture of me and Kelsey during the middle of the game.  We are VERY EXCITED!  It was a nail-biter for sure.

I also have a confession.  I suffer from Stage Crush Syndrome.  Meaning that I can find a guy not physically attractive at all but then when I see him performing I have to remind myself not to drool.  Causes of this syndrome include

1.) Andrew Luck (because Quarterbacks are not supposed to have tackles like this:

and

2.) Adam Levine

This picture is from a professional who sat way closer than we did.  From where we sat it was more like this:

And that's with some pretty intense zoom action.

He has a voice that makes me melt.  It's like no one else's in the world.  Sorry, I'm too busy swooning to even finish this post.  :)

Hi Fiends!

My roommate and I were talking the other day about how we love when people misspell friends and put fiends, but I digress before I even begin.

SO, I've been meaning to start a blog for about forever (if forever is equal to about the last month), but I lost my camera.  And as everyone knows, a blog is really boring to read unless there are lots of pictures.  And then I remembered this thing called the INTERWEB (or the internet if you aren't fans of 30 rock, or my sister Adri Nye) and that it has pictures of about infinity things.

I decided to start out my blog by talking about one of my favorite things: Stanford football.

Never in my life have I been such a football spectator until I became a Stanford student.  Something about being in college and watching a team with a fairly deep reservoir of untapped potential and sitting in the student section and screaming and cheering for my team is incredibly fun.  Of course, the fact that it's Stanford means things like this are both slightly embarrassing and utterly enjoyable:

Anyways, today we beat Notre Dame.  I knew we would.  37-14 was the final score.  I watched the game in someone in my dorm's room on their very nice t.v.  I was the only girl in the room.  I always feel a little intimidated in a situation like that because I feel like I'm supposed to be able to keep up with them in football knowledge.  But it ended up being really fun.  Especially because we won.  (We are so good this year.  And everyone thought without Toby Gerhart we would be nowhere.)

I got the boys to not be so serious.  Like the fact that we noticed that Coach Jim Harbaugh's pinky sticks out of the side of his hand:

It's actually quite creepy.  But I still love Sanford Football.  And YOU, for reading my first blog post.  :)
